Build it and they will come! (Brodhead Library)

Wednesday, September 5th, 2007

Remember the Field of Dreams? Kevin Costner and the ballplayers? Well, that’s kind of how I feel at this moment. Our library gets a lot of use for a small town but we’re growing! Last month we had over 10,000 items checked out of our library! And the population of our town is just over 3000 people. I’m hoping we can get it built and I KNOW they will come – they already are!

The Brodhead Memorial Library needs a bigger space — much bigger! We currently have a collection of over 50,000 items and less than 4000 square feet to put them! If you click here you can read about it in the Independent Register.

We are currently having a raffle! And for some great prizes – A photograph by Fritz Wenger of Perfect Photos Direct of the TenEyck Barn in Brodhead OR a print by Owen Gromme “A Long Courtship – Wild Turkeys”. This is a print of his last painting.

Other prizes are:

1) a handcrafted lap quilt donated by an anonymous person,

2) $225.00 cash prize donated by American Family Insurance – the Randy Licht agency, Parker-Anderson Agency, Jeremy Pinnow and Associates, and Spring Grove Insurance, and TRICOR insurance (alphabetically noted) and

3) Savings bonds donated by Citizens Bank and Sugar River Bank (alphabetically noted).

If you would like to purchase some raffle tickets, I would be thrilled (and so would the Friends of the Brodhead Library!). Just click on the Paypal buttons below to purchase either 1 ticket for 5.00 OR 6 tickets for 20.00. You can use either Cash or Credit Card to purchase. Please include your name and address for mailing purposes.

If you click on the link to the library you can see an architect’s rendering of the proposed library. Brodhead Memorial Library
