I can hear Ethel Merman’s deep, throaty voice belting out those lyrics in my head this morning – singing those wonderful lyrics from the musical “Gypsy”. Don’t you just love a day that starts off with a bang? Today is one of those days for me. 2 exciting things plus the temperature is up to -4 this morning on top of it!

I sold a bracelet this morning that I had written about previously – the “Spring is Sprung” bracelet. It was going to be for the purchaser but then she realized that a very special friend of hers had a birthday today. That friend had saved her life! And so the bracelet is going to be a birthday present – and for a friend that saved your life – I think the “Spring is Sprung” bracelet is appropriate. You have the beginning of a new life and the beginning of spring all at the same time.

The second great thing that happened this morning is —- I just got an email telling me that I had 2 pieces accepted into a juried art exhibition! There were over 60 artists who submitted over 250 pieces and 2 of the pieces will be mine!! I’m so excited! This is the first annual juried show of work of artists who belong to ArtsBuild of Wisconsin. The jury was 3 faculty members of the Fine Art Department. The juried group show will run from February 4th to 28th, 2009 and will be presented in the Harry and Laura Nohr Gallery in Ullsvik Hall at the University of Wisconsin – Platteville.

The picture on the right faithful readers will recognize from a previous post. Scroll down or up – I always have trouble w/ that part – a bit and you can read about it. The picture on the left is the other item going to the art exhibition.

I was fortunate enough to purchase this lampwork bead from Moon Stumpp of Mixed Media Jewelry. Moon does a wonderful job of making lampwork beads and you will find a pretty fair amount of her beads in my work. I really like movement in my jewelry and I was able to fashion a bail to let the bead move and really show off the wonderful bead.

Both of these pieces are for sale but will not be available for delivery until the show ends.

Oh Joella, I’m so happy for you! Isnt’ it wonderful to get those “outside” accolades on your work! All the feedback from fellow eSMArts members and customers are great, but there is something totally different when it comes from outside “judges.”

    Again, congratulations
